I’m from the UK where police don’t carry guns, yet anyone storming the Houses of Parliament would have been shot without hesitation.

A crowd trying to break into Parliament would certainly not be shot. The Police would respond to the level of threat to life - which is why armed terrorists have been killed. I think the Met would have been better prepared and rather more assertive than the Capitol Police.

The woman that did got in was shot dead. I don't know what they were thinking. The guy who filmed the shooting was like "I don't know why they shot her, she wasn't armed, she was only trying to break in with a pipe." *facepalm*. WTF did you think would happen???

This was pre 2007 and pre London Bridge. Without doubt a protester today wouldn't get 5 yards inside the houses of parliament without a bullet being fired
